It's that time of year again: the Valley is filling up again, the weather is beautiful, and we're starting to dust off the Christmas music in rehearsal: It must mean our annual choir workshop is upon us!
Every fall, we take an extra rehearsal (usually following a Sunday morning service) not so much to slog through notes, but to focus on singing together, vocal production, and those other topics that sometimes don't get enough attention in our packed rehearsal schedule. Last year, for instance, I led the workshop focused on singing the music of the Renaissance (with a bit of history thrown in), and singing the Psalms to Anglican chant.
This year, we are excited to welcome Dr. Kenny Miller, director of choral activities at Phoenix College and a tenor (and assistant conductor) in the Phoenix Chorale, to lead our workshop. We're excited to have this opportunity to have him come work with us!
