The first rehearsal of the new season is in the books, and it felt great to get back to singing!
We will kick off this new season on Sunday morning with two joyous choruses by Bach: one from Cantata No. 79, and another adapted from the Christmas Oratorio. We will be joined by talented guests who have become regulars over the years: Bill Aikens and Nik Flickinger, oboes, Sarah Schreffler, violin, and Jay Good, cello.
With this festive music, we welcome not only the new season of music but also new voices to our choir, as we are joined by two new tenors, Tyler Cline and John Hollmann, and two new basses, CodyRay Caho and Curtis Bain.
Finally, I want to extend my thanks to all who came to sing in this year's Summer Choir. It was offered as something of an experiment, and frankly I had no idea how it would turn out (I was pretty nervous the night before that first Sunday back in June). I think it's safe to say it was more successful than I had hoped it could be. Over the course of four Sundays, our choir almost doubled in size, providing music of excellent quality to our services and variety to our summer. I'm grateful for those who brought their voices and enthusiasm so early in the morning, and hopeful that some who participated will want to join us for our special events this year.
See you Sunday morning at 10:15!
